Bagmati Province Supports Sports Development: Chanpur Jaycees Manahari Cup Football


Tournament Kicks Off

The Bagmati Province Government has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting sports in the region, with Minister highlighting his journey from a player to his current position. In alignment with this sports-friendly approach, the second Chanpur Jaycees Manahari Cup Football Tournament has commenced, bringing together 16 teams from across the district for an exciting competition.



Plans for Sports Infrastructure Development
Manahari Rural Municipality Chairperson Ranjan Kalakheti emphasized the need for sports infrastructure in the Handikhola area, proposing the development of Golghar Ground as a mini stadium with support from the provincial government. The municipality has been investing in sports and aims to continue systematic work in this field in the future. Ward No. 4 Chairperson Prakash Thapa also submitted a memorandum requesting additional budget for the Golghar sports ground.

Tournament Opening Match and Highlights
In the tournament’s opening match, Namo Buddha FC from Hetaunda 13 Padampokhari defeated Manahari Ward No. 4 with a score of 2–0. Sunil Lama opened the scoring in the 26th minute, while Samual Sunar doubled the lead in the 43rd minute, securing Namo Buddha’s first victory. Samual Sunar was named Man of the Match and received various prizes.


Tournament Schedule and Upcoming Games
The tournament, organized under the leadership of Coordinator Mahesh Khulal and Jaycees President Rabin Dhakal, will run until Mangsir 3. Supported by Ward No. 4 of Manahari Rural Municipality and various other organizations, the event aims to foster local talent. The upcoming match on Saturday will see Handikhola Youth Club face off against Janasiddha Club, as confirmed by Co-Coordinator Ujjwal Bista.

Prizes and Recognition for Outstanding Players
The winning team will receive a cash prize of NPR 101,111 and a trophy, while the runner-up will receive NPR 51,151 and a trophy. The best player of the tournament will be awarded NPR 7,500, with individual category winners receiving NPR 3,500 each and trophies, according to Co-Coordinator Pradeep Thapa.

This tournament is a significant event for sports development in Manahari, providing a platform for local players to showcase their skills and a step forward in realizing the province’s sports ambitions.
